EUTRACO Leads the Way in Sustainable Transport Thanks to Collaboration with Luminus and Insaver

October 27, 2025

The Roeselare-based transport and logistics service provider, which operates the largest e-truck fleet in Belgium, is partnering with Luminus for the installation of 30 ultra-fast chargers for electric trucks, 3,500 solar panels, and 40 batteries. This major electrification project, carried out by Insaver (part of the Luminus Group), aligns with EUTRACO’s ambition to operate completely emission-free by 2035.

EUTRACO: The Largest E-Truck Fleet in Belgium

In August, the Roeselare-based logistics group EUTRACO commissioned the first 4 of a total of 54 electric long-haul trucks. By the end of the year, one-third of its fleet will be electric, making it the largest e-truck fleet in the country.
This electrification naturally goes hand in hand with investments in ultra-fast charging stations, solar panels, battery storage, and smart energy management systems at its sites in Roeselare, Ghent, and Willebroek. To realize this, EUTRACO is partnering with Insaver, part of the Luminus Group.

Solar Panels, Smart Battery Systems, and Ultra-Fast Chargers

To charge its 54 e-trucks as sustainably as possible, Insaver is installing 30 truck chargers across EUTRACO sites, with a total capacity of 14.4 MW, 3,500 solar panels totaling 2.3 MWp, and 40 batteries with a total storage capacity of 10 MWh.
This allows the e-trucks to be powered primarily by locally generated green electricity from the solar panels.

With a full battery and trailer, EUTRACO’s e-trucks have a theoretical driving range of 500 kilometers, depending on traffic, weather, and cargo weight. Thanks to Luminus’s ultra-fast chargers, they can be charged from 20% to 80% in just 60 minutes, providing enough power for another 300 km — more than sufficient to fully electrify many of EUTRACO’s daily routes.

Serge Gregoir, CEO of EUTRACO:

“We see more and more companies wanting to reduce their CO₂ emissions and critically examining the transport to and from their sites. When we can offer a sustainable solution without additional costs for the customer, we notice strong interest from both existing and new clients. With the largest fleet of electric trucks in Belgium, we offer exactly that solution.”

Dirk Triangle, Co-CEO of Insaver:

“By installing solar panels, a smart battery system, and fast chargers on their sites, EUTRACO is saving on energy costs, increasing competitiveness, and reducing CO₂ emissions. We’re proud they chose to rely on Insaver’s experience and know-how.”

Electrifying Transport in the Fight Against Climate Change

Electrifying freight transport is crucial: transport accounts for nearly one-third of Europe’s CO₂ emissions, 73% of which comes from road transport. The EU’s targets for freight are clear: by 2030, CO₂ emissions must be reduced by 40%, and by 2040, by 90%.
EUTRACO is already responding to this by replacing 54 diesel tractors with electric, and therefore sustainable, alternatives. Each diesel truck replaced saves up to 60 tons of CO₂ annually. Over an 8-year lifespan, this switch within EUTRACO’s fleet represents a total savings of nearly 26,000 tons of CO₂.

Building a CO₂-Neutral Energy Future

For the Luminus Group, the EUTRACO project marks an important step in rolling out its “Electrify2030” program, which focuses on electrifying the economy and society — the only way to reduce CO₂ emissions and strengthen Europe’s energy independence.

Grégoire Dallemagne, CEO of Luminus:

“We wholeheartedly congratulate EUTRACO for taking a leading role in the electrification of freight transport. Thanks to their vision and courage, they are setting a new standard for sustainable transport. We are proud that they have chosen the Luminus Group as their one-stop shop to guide them through their electrification journey. This collaboration perfectly embodies the mission of the Luminus Group: to build a CO₂-neutral energy future through electricity and innovative solutions.”
