Logistics building of the year 2021

Eutraco Takes the Top Spot for the Logistics Building of the Year Award 2021 with Its New Distribution Center in Willebroek — Belgium’s First CO2-Neutral Logistics Facility

Eutraco has won the Logistics Building of the Year Award 2021 for its new distribution center in Willebroek, the first CO2-neutral logistics building in Belgium. The company succeeds last year’s winner, Van Marcke.

The 40,000 m² distribution center was built at MG Park De Hulst in Willebroek. Constructed in just five and a half months, the building was developed at Eutraco’s own risk, without any prior customer commitments. Through additional investments — including solar panels that power heat pumps to warm the building — the site is now completely CO2-neutral. Eutraco is also participating in a project that explores the feasibility of using the surplus capacity of the rooftop solar panels to produce green hydrogen, which could be used for forklifts and industrial applications.

According to the jury, the project demonstrates that sustainability is high on the agenda and that the pursuit of CO2 neutrality is becoming a key consideration — and potentially even the standard — in the logistics chain.
