Eutraco Continues Its Rapid Expansion in Logistics Storage and Begins Construction of a Logistics Center at the Kluizendok (Evergem), in the Port of Ghent
Eutraco is continuing its growth spurt in logistics storage capacity and has begun construction of a logistics center at the Kluizendok (Evergem), in the port of Ghent. The facility is expected to be operational by New Year 2022.
The new logistics center is part of the MG New Docks project, marking the second collaboration between Eutraco and MG Real Estate, following their partnership on the Willebroek site. According to Eutraco owner and CEO Serge Gregoir, Ghent was still a blind spot in the company’s coverage across Flanders, as the company always aims to offer the most geographically efficient solution for its customers. An added advantage is the ability to use inland shipping to avoid road traffic congestion.
Eutraco Gent is being built at a rapid pace by MG Real Estate and construction partner ASK Romein Malle. By January 3, 2022, the first 25,000 m² of the site must already be operational, with the total expanding to 75,000 m² in the coming years. The entire center will be energy- and CO2-neutral, thanks to the use of solar panels. Additionally, a battery storage system is being considered to allow machinery to be charged at night using solar energy collected during the day.
