Logistics player EUTRACO continues growth in Willebroek with nearly 60,000 m² of new storage space

Logistics player EUTRACO continues growth in Willebroek with nearly 60,000 m² of new storage space

Significant expansion creates 45 new jobs

WILLEBROEK, thursday, October 17, 2024. The logistics service provider EUTRACO is putting nearly 60.000 m² of new storage space into operation in Willebroek. This involves the distribution center that sports retail chain Decathlon will largely vacate by the end of this year. The expansion of EUTRACO will create 45 new jobs, mainly for logistics staff. "When we heard that the distribution center was becoming available again, we didn't hesitate for a moment," says Serge Gregoir, CEO of EUTRACO. "The expansion with this storage space is more than necessary to support the growth of our logistics services."

EUTRACO, one of the fastest-growing logistics companies in Belgium, continues to focus on further expansion. With the commissioning of Decathlon's distribution center, located along Schoondonkweg in Willebroek, the company is once again taking a significant step in the further development of its activities. Serge Gregoir, CEO of EUTRACO, is very excited about this new phase.

"With this distribution center that we are going to use, our logistics footprint in Willebroek is expanding once again. It involves 41,000 m² of storage space and 18,000 m² of mezzanine. Altogether nearly 60,000 m². After a few small adjustments to the building's layout, we will be ready around the turn of the year to house our logistics activities there. This includes receiving goods, storage, distribution, and shipping for our customers in various sectors," says Serge Gregoir, CEO of EUTRACO.

Additional employment

As this is a significant expansion for the region, EUTRACO is looking for 45 new employees. This mainly concerns technical profiles familiar with the logistics sector or distribution. The company is confident it will find these people, even though there is a tight labor market.

EUTRACO's expansion is also good news for the municipality of Willebroek, which has long positioned itself as a logistics hub between Brussels and Antwerp.

"When a company wants to expand, it is always a sign of confidence and reflects positively on our municipality and its residents. In this region, Willebroek is THE logistics hub par excellence, creating a lot of employment. If EUTRACO decides to continue its expansion here, we can only welcome and support it," says Eddy Bevers, mayor of Willebroek.

Sustainability at the core

EUTRACO will not simply move into the former Decathlon distribution center. The building will continue to evolve over the coming months into a fully CO2-neutral site. Heat pumps will be installed so that gas can be completely phased out from the beginning of 2025.

"Sustainability is not an empty concept at EUTRACO. We are investing heavily in solar panels, heat pumps, battery systems, electric trucks, and charging stations. We notice that our customers are really asking for more sustainable and energy-efficient solutions. It's good for the environment AND for our customers," says Serge Gregoir, CEO of EUTRACO.
